703220     French Post Card of a White Persian Cat with Squeaker

This is a very interesting post card by Rhodania Lyon, made in France. It shows a pretty white long haired Persian cat sitting on a red tufted chair. What is unusual about this card is that there is a squeaker inserted in the card and it squeaks when you press on it. It sounds a little like a cat. I do not know when these were made, but I would think early 1900s. I did find it with a lot of early paper from about 1880 and on. This is in fairly good condition. There are some creases, but the squeaker still works. The dividing line in the back reads: USA Distributors Atlantic Importing Co. 100 Boylston Street, Boston, Mass. At the top in back it says "Carte Postale".

703204     Celluloid Pinback Button Cathedral St Pierre et St Paul

This is an early celluloid pinback button measuring 7/8" picturing a cathedral -- "St. Pierre et St. Paul" printed on the lower part of the pin. I guess St. Pierre might be the name of the Cathedral. The word "et" usually means "and" in Latin, so is it possibly a combined Cathedral? -- St Pierre and St Paul.? And, where is this located, Italy? It is a nice early pin from the early 1900s. I just do not know exactly what it represents.

703203     State of Maine Centennial 1820 - 1920 Pinback 3/4"

This is a very small 3/4" pinback celebrating the centennial for the State of Maine. The State Coat of Arms has 2 men (one a sailor, the other a hunter I guess), in the center is a pine tree and a deer or moose. There is a lot of decoration for such a tiny pin. I think this might be one of those celluloid covered pins. It is in good condition for the age, just a little off center.

702211     Enamel & Marquesite Palm Tree Pin 1920s-40s

This is a 1920s to 40s pin in the shape of palm trees. The leaves and ground are finished in a green enamel and the trunk of the trees look like marquesite. It looks like 6 of the marquesite pieces have fallen out and about 9 are still in place. Unfortunately none of the pictures really look like the pin. You have to use your imagination. It is 1 3/4" long. This would make an interesting Christmas pin to wear. Palm trees are often used as an early form of Christmas decorations as it is a tree customarily found in Bethlehem.

408215    This is one of the earlier editions of the blue book price guides. This is the 5th Blue Book by Jan Foulke copyright 1982. The pictures are all in black and white. There are about 345 pages filled with pictures and information and prices in that day for comparison. Many collectors like to have the entire set from Book 1 to the present 16th edition. It is also important to have the earlier books as the later books often refer to pictures in previous books with reference to page numbers and book number where the picture of a certain doll can be found.
Condition: Used, but still in fair condition. Owners name in book and there are 2 additional pages that look like they are additions that had been printed in magazines and meant to be cut out and added to the Price Guide. The second picture shows of one of these pages.

210203     Nice old 2 1/2" figurine of a young girl and her cow. It is made of china with flowing blue decoration. There is a piece out of the back, but would still make a nice shelf piece in a doll house. This probably dates to the early part of the 1900s. You can still see part of the G and part of the Y for Germany. I have seen the incised word Germany so many times that I can tell by what is left that the middle part of Germany had been broken out.

209262     This cone puppet is 21" tall including the puppet and a long push stick. The puppet and cone alone is only 11". The cone is covered with very colorful toys on a white background and the puppet has a round wooden head and nicely drawn features, and wears a fur trimmed grey hat, a red silk bow around the neck, a striped floral print on a heavy cotton and red felt hands. There is some loss of fabric in the grey felt hat, but is in good condition other than that. This type of puppet is designed to be concealed in the cone portion and then by moving the stick up and down with a twisting motion, gives the action to the puppet.

209245     Nicely made tin litho world globe set in yellow plastic arm or sphere and deep red plastic base that holds a rose color plastic marbelized pencil sharpener. It is 3" tall including the base and globe and is marked A & W Products, Inc. and Made in U.S.A. It shows "Siam", rather than "Thailand, so I think it might be from around the 1940s or 50s. One section of the base has a melted or squished-in area. Other than that it is in good condition. There are some factory flaws such as Africa being 2 different colors where the litho on each half of the globe differed. Also the sharpener portion itself was placed at an incorrect angle and had to be repositioned to line up with the opening in the base. The original glue marks can still be seen. That might also be the cause of the irregularity in the base, when it was repositioned from one angle to another.

209244     Beautifully made pencil sharpener in the shape of an alarm clock with 2 legs and alarm bell on top. The alarm is not a working bell. The exterior looks like a stainless steel sheet metal. The legs on the clock are brass and the loop on top of the bell is also brass. The loop would allow this to be worn on a chain as a pendant. The face of the clock is printed with a celluloid cover. I cannot tell if the face of the clock is tin litho or printed on paper. This would be an excellent addition to a pencil sharpener collection or a nice novelty for someone who collects alarm clocks. It would also make a nice accessory in a doll setting or large dollhouse. It is marked Germany on the bottom of the printed clock face and it is also incised in the metal in the back of the clock. This probably dates to the 1920s or 30s. It measures 1 1/2" tall. The workmanship is excellent, and it is in very good condition.

204064     This cute little bank is marked "For Baby" on the suitcase or doctors bag that the stork is carrying. It is probably celluloid or a light weight early plastic. The color is ivory with highlights in blue and pink. It is about 10 1/4" tall and the slot for the money is in the side of the suitcase. The trap for keeping the money from falling out is still there.

112240     Nicely made panda bear hand puppet made in 1984 by R. Dakin & Co. He is 12" from the top of the head through the wrist cover. The thumb and small finger fit through the arms, middle fingers through the head and there is a small pocket in front but I do not know what that is for, maybe to hold things like flowers, a book or a doll or something. The material is plush and is in good condition and is nice and clean.
